Israel-Sweden Bi-National R&D Project: Wireless Wearable Telehealth System

In January 2005, Tadiran LifeCare (later acquired by Aerotel Medical Systems), together with Swedish partners, Karolinska University Hospital and TeliaSonera have started a joint project called "TeleMedIS". The aim of the project was to develop and evaluate a unique telemedicine platform and wireless wrist-wearable monitoring system for the Swedish healthcare system.

This initiative has been partially funded by Vinnova (Swedish side) and MATIMOP (Israeli side), under SIBED (Sweden-Israel Bi-national Testebed Program), which is administered under the umbrella of Eureka. The project duration was 18 months.

TeleMedIS System Description

The TeleMedIS system consists of the TeleMed Home Care Platform (TP) developed by Karolinska and Telehealth Monitoring Wristwatch (TMW) developed by Tadiran LifeCare, connected over the Wireless Network (WN), provided by TeliaSonera. The TMW is a special version of of Aerotel's MDKeeper™ wrist wearable monitoring device.

The figure below provides a general description of the TeleMedIS project and the partners responsibilities. For additional information, please visit the TeleMedIS Web page or contact us.
