During 2007, Aerotel Medical Systems, together with Swedish partner Box Play Alleato AB, have started a joint project called "SIGNAL". The aim of the project is to develop and evaluate a wrist-wearable personal safety and location system.

This initiative is being partially funded by Vinnova (Swedish side) and MATIMOP (Israeli side), under SIBED (Sweden-Israel Bi-national Testebed Program), which is administered under the umbrella of EUREKA. The project duration is 18 months.

The Eureka project, E! 3845 SIGNAL has been endorsed by EUREKA and obtained the EUREKA Status which indicates that the project has been assessed and meets the high standards required for obtaining the Eureka Label. With this endorsement the project has joined the prestigious group of about 200 Eureka projects that were granted a label during 2007.

EUREKA (www.eureka.be) is a pan-European network for market-oriented, industrial R&D that complements the European Union's Framework Programme. Created as an intergovernmental Initiative in 1985, EUREKA aims to enhance European competitiveness through its support to businesses, research centres and universities who carry out pan-European projects to develop innovative products, processes and services.
